Ormai tutte le fan della nuova serie TV turca di Canale 5, “Cherry Season”, sanno di chi parliamo: Serkan Çayoğlu (classe 1987) è il fascinoso e sexy attore che interpreta il ruolo maschile più importante, l’architetto Ayaz Dincer che si innamora della studentessa e aspirante stilista Öykü Akar.
La serie ottiene giorno dopo giorno sempre più consensi in share e telespettatori in numero assoluto, spodestando altre soap dall’olimpo del record stagionale. Persino l’interesse da parte dei fan verso gli attori della serie diventa via via maggiore rispetto al cast di altre soap. Chissà se Silvia Toffanin nella prossima stagione di Verissimo inizierà ad invitare anche il cast di “Cherry Season”!

E se Maria De Filippi lo chiamasse a fare il tronista a Uomini e donne? Lui non disdegna nulla.

Ciao Daniela! Grazie a voi per l’interesse accordatomi.

1) Innanzitutto, sappiamo che la tua famiglia ha origini turche, ma tu sei nato e vissuto in Germania.
Parlando dell’immigrazione turca in Germania (la più sviluppata), la cultura tedesca nei turchi tende a dominare al lavoro o a scuola, mentre durante il tempo libero, i social network permettono una maggiore predominanza della cultura originaria. E’ vero che qualcuno nella minoranza turca ha mostrato problemi religiosi (la Turchia è in prevalenza islamica) e culturali nell’integrazione nella società tedesca? Qual è la tua esperienza?

1) Sì, è vero che ci sono dei problemi nell’integrazione di alcuni turchi in qualche zona della Germania. Occorre essere tolleranti nei confronti di altre religioni e culture, altrimenti non è facile accettare quella gente. Tuttavia non dovremmo generalizzare, estendendo questo discorso a tutti i turchi. Ci sono tanti turchi, soprattutto giovani, che sono pienamente integrati. Penso che sia sempre interessante imparare altre culture, non soltanto quella tedesca; ci sono così tante religioni e tradizioni da conoscere. La mia famiglia è turca ma grazie ai miei amici, sia a scuola sia in privato, non è stato difficile integrarmi.

2) In Germania ti sei laureato in Economia. Leggi tuttora riviste economiche o ti tieni aggiornato sul mercato azionario?

2) Quando ho l’opportunità, trascorro il mio tempo solo con la famiglia, impiego ore nel mio lavoro di attore e a me stesso. Il tempo libero fuori dal set è piuttosto limitato. Non sono molto attivo sul settore economico, ma sì, seguo la Borsa e le notizie economiche.

3) Perché hai deciso di spostarti in Turchia per dare inizio alla tua carriera nel mondo della recitazione? Hai mai tentato questa strada in Germania?

3) Non ci ho mai provato in Germania. In effetti quando ero giovane, diventare attore non era il mio sogno: ho studiato come hai detto Economia, e mi piaceva. Ma all’università c’era un piccolo club teatrale in cui alcuni studenti scrivevano la sceneggiatura e altri recitavano, ma era un hobby, nulla di professionale. Lo adoravo e mi piaceva tanto immedesimarmi in altri personaggi.
Terminata l’università, mi sono spostato in Turchia dove ho preso lezioni di recitazione, e dopo infinite audizioni ho ottenuto il mio primo ruolo in una serie televisiva. E’ stato come un test per me, per cui ho deciso di voler essere un attore. Mi diverto e amo il mio lavoro. Non vedo l’ora di avere l’opportunità di lavorare anche in Germania o in altri Paesi.

4) Sei divenuto popolare grazie alla serie TV “Cherry Season” andata in onda su FOX (ora in Italia su Canale 5), doppiata in arabo, urdu, indonesiano e infine italiano. Hai ottenuto grandissimo successo e vinto alcuni premi per quella soap. Ci potresti raccontare di quest’esperienza sul set? Avresti mai immaginato un simile trionfo?

4) Penso che non soltanto io, ma neppure il produttore della serie e l’emittente Fox TV avrebbero mai potuto immaginare che Cherry Season potesse ottenere un tale successo. Abbiamo trascorso dei bellissimi momenti sul set. Abbiamo iniziato a giugno del 2014 e lavorato per l’intera estate. Non è stato facile lavorare perché in Turchia faceva davvero molto caldo, ma eravamo una bella squadra e ci siamo sempre motivati l’un l’altro.
In Turchia non è facile lavorare per una serie televisiva, perché devi produrre 120 minuti in 6 giorni al massimo. Quando ho raccontato questa cosa ai miei amici in Germania, non ci credevano.
Lavori davvero tutto il tempo, quindi è molto importante creare una sintonia di squadra.

5) Quanto è stato arduo superare l’audizione per ottenere il ruolo di Ayaz Dincer?

5) Ero pieno di entusiasmo perché Ayaz era il ruolo maschile predominante di “Cherry Season”. Dopo la seconda audizione ho incontrato la produttrice, la quale mi ha detto che mi avrebbe voluto nei panni di Ayaz. E’ stato un bellissimo momento.

6) Hai un metodo particolare per entrare maggiormente nel ruolo?

6) All’inizio devo vedere le cose dal punto di vista del personaggio, quindi devo vivere come lui. Per questo è necessario conoscerlo bene. Sono un uomo che ama vivere in modo più semplice rispetto ad Ayaz. Tuttavia, ho instaurato un bel rapporto con lui dall’estate del 2014 e ho trovato delle cose in comune anche con lui.

7) Durante la prima serie in lingua originale di “Cherry Season” sei stato doppiato. Come mai? Non eri ancora sicuro di parlare perfettamente la lingua turca?

7) Sono nato e cresciuto in Germania. Con la mia famiglia comunque ho sempre parlato in turco, ciononostante avevo un po’ l’accento tedesco. Il primo regista della serie per questo ha voluto che io fossi doppiato. In seguito ho preso lezioni di pronuncia e ho migliorato il mio turco, potendo quindi recitare con la mia voce nella seconda serie.

8) In “Cherry Season”, Ayaz è il primo uomo che Öykü abbia mai baciato. E’ molto romantico… quando è avvenuto il tuo primo bacio?

8) Durante l’infanzia. Non so se per curiosità o senza sapere di cosa si trattasse. In ogni caso il primo bacio è sempre innocente.

9) A parte l’ormai nota “Cherry Season”, nel 2012 hai preso parte alla serie “North South”, nel 2014 sei apparso in “Olive Hill”, e quest’anno in “Love of My Life”. Tra tutti questi ruoli importanti, qual è quello più incline alla tua vera personalità?

9) Con tutti questi personaggi ho molte cose in comune, ma differisco in molte altre. Penso comunque che Burak in “Olive Hill” mi sia più vicino perché anche lui ha studiato in Germania (ride, ndr).

10) Presti spesso molta attenzione all’aspetto esteriore, e questo è dovuto anche al fatto che tu abbia lavorato a lungo in passato come modello; ti piace il fitness, il calcio e la boxe, giusto? Lo sport è utile per essere in forma e piacenti. Pensi che possa essere importante anche nel lavoro di attore per il benessere psico-fisico?

10) Esatto, mi piace fare sport. Ti rende più forte e non solo fisicamente. Amo il calcio e ho giocato per vent’anni in alcune squadre in Germania. Sono persino venuto in Italia due volte per dei tornei. Pratico anche la boxe perché è utile a tirare fuori tutto lo stress quotidiano e rinvigorirmi, per poi essere pronto a ricaricarmi mentalmente e fisicamente.

11) Una delle tue più grandi passioni è la cucina indiana perché ami i sapori speziati e i dolci. Ti piace cucinare? Qual è la tua ricetta preferita? Ti piace la cucina italiana?

11) Esiste sul serio qualcuno che non ami la pizza o la pasta? (ride, ndr) Mi reco a cena una volta alla settimana in un ristorante italiano. Adoro la cucina italiana. A casa non cucino sempre, però amo miscelare alcune spezie finché non conferiscano al piatto il giusto sapore deciso che io richiedo. Il curry è la spezia che preferisco, e la cucina indiana è la migliore quando si tratta di spezie.
Ah, sono allergico alle mandorle. Mi causano eruzioni cutanee, faccio molta attenzione a non mangiarle. Se doveste invitarmi, non utilizzate le mandorle, mi raccomando

12) Il tuo fratello gemello è sposato, quindi immagino che anche tu voglia seguire le sue orme e mettere su famiglia come lui. Sei single al momento? Se sì, come dovrebbe essere la ragazza dei tuoi sogni?

12) Non ho una ragazza ideale. Tuttavia, sono interessato alle ragazze sicure di se stesse, intelligenti e che amino godere della vita. Credo nella sinergia di due persone fatte per stare insieme; uno avverte anche solo la presenza dell’altro/a quando deve farlo. Tutti siamo diversi e unici e si può sempre trovare quello che si ama. Non credo che certe cose accadano in modo spontaneo

13) Sappiamo che ami moltissimo gli animali, soprattutto cani e gatti. Hai un animale?

13) Ho due gatti a casa. Amo anche i cani, ma non posso lasciarli soli quando lavoro. I miei amici hanno dei cani, quindi posso trascorrere del tempo divertendomi con loro.

14) Una delle tue città europee preferite è Madrid. Dicevi di essere stato in Italia, dove?

14) Sono stato in Italia diverse volte; l’ultima volta sono stato a Nemi, nei pressi di Roma.
Adoro la cultura italiana e la gente del luogo, soprattutto la lingua. A scuola ho studiato italiano per quattro anni… Non vedo l’ora di tornarci la prossima volta.

15) Parteciperesti a un reality show o un dating show come “Uomini e Donne” in Italia? Cosa ne dici anche di intraprendere un percorso nella produzione cinematografica in Italia? Saresti disposto a studiare italiano?

15) Sarebbe magnifico lavorare in Italia e anche apparire nella televisione italiana, ma appunto prima dovrei migliorare un po’ il mio italiano. Spero di incontrarti presto in Italia!

Hi Serkan! Thank you very much for accepting this exclusive interview in Italy.
Hi Daniela! Thank you for your interest!

1) First of all, we know that your family is Turkish, but you were born in Germany and grew up there.
Dealing with Turks in Germany, German culture tends to dominate at work or school, while during leisure time social networks divide along ethnic lines of Turkish culture. Is it true that some in the Turkish minority have shown cultural and religious (you there are Muslims) problems in integrating into German society? What’s your experience?
1) Yes, it is true that there are some problems with the integration of some Turkish people in some areas in Germany. You have to be tolerant towards other religions and other cultures, otherwise it won’t be easy to accept those people. However we should not generalize that question to Turkish people. There are so many Turkish, especially young people, who are fully integrated. I think it is always interesting to learn about other cultures -not only German culture; there are so many different religions and cultures to know. My family is Turkish but thanks to my friends, at school and in private it was not difficult to integrate myself.

2) You have a German degree in Economics. Do you usually read business newspapers or inform yourself on the Stock Exchange?
2) When I have the opportunity, I spend time with my family, for my acting courses and for myself only. My time out of the set is very limited. I am not active concerning the economy, but I follow business news and the stock market.

3) Why have you decided to move to Turkey in order to start your acting career? Have you ever tried that in Germany?
3) I have never tried it in Germany. Actually it was not my dream to be an actor when I was young; I studied Economics and liked it. But at university we had a little theatre club where some students wrote and some of them acted, but it was a hobby, not anything professional. I liked it very much and loved to get into other characters.
After university, I moved to Turkey and got lessons in acting schools, and after endless auditions I got my first role in one TV series. It was like a test for me and I decided that I want to be an actor. I have so much fun and love my job. I’m looking forward to getting a chance to do my job in Germany or other countries.

4) You are very popular for the TV drama “Kiraz Mevsimi” (Cherry Season) ran on Fox TV, dubbed in Arabic, Urdu, Indonesian and now Italian. You have gained lots of success and won some awards thanks to that soap opera. Could you tell us about this experience on set? Did you ever imagine this triumph?
4) I think not only me, even the producer and Fox TV had never expected that Kiraz Mevsimi would be so successful. We had a great time on set. We started in June and worked the hole summer in 2014. It was not easy to work because it was really hot, but we were such a good team and motivated always each other.
In Turkey it is hard to work for a TV drama because you have to produce 120 minutes in max. 6 days. When I told this to my friends in Germany, they could not believe that. You work all the time, so it’s very important to pull together as a team.

5) How hard it was to pass your screen test for Ayaz Dincer’s role?
5) I was very excited because Ayaz was the main male actor of “Kiraz Mevsimi”.
After the second audition I’ve met the producer and she said she wanted me for Ayaz. It was one beautiful moment.

6) Do you have a particular technique when you play your role?
6) At the beginning, I have to see things from the side of the character, so I have to live like him. For this it is necessary to know him well. I’m a man who likes to live more simply than Ayaz. However, I have established a good relationship with him since last summer and I found things in common with him.

7) During the first series of “Cherry Season” you were dubbed. Why? Weren’t you sure to master Turkish language yet?
7) I was born and grew up in Germany. With my family I’ve always spoken Turkish, nevertheless I had some German accent. The fist director of the TV series wanted me to be dubbed. I got lessons and improved my Turkish.

8) In “Cherry Season” Ayaz is the first man Öykü has ever kissed. When was your first kiss?

8) During childhood. I don’t know if it’s curiousity or without knowing what it really represents. Anyway the first kiss is always innocent.

9) In 2012 you took part in “Kuzey Güney” (North South), in 2014 “Zeytin Tepesi” (Olive Hill), and this year “Hayatımın Aşkı” (Love of My Life). Among these important roles, which one is closer to your real personality?
9) With all these characters, I had many things in common, but we differ in much more things. I think Burak in “Zeytin Tepesi” was closer to me because he studied in Germany

10) You often pay attention to your physical appearance, and this is also due to the fact that you worked as a model for a long time; you like fitness, football and boxe, don’t you?
Sports are required by people to be fit and good looking. Do you think sport could be important for actors and their psychological wellness too?
10) Yes, I like to do sport. It makes you stronger and not only physically. I love football and played for 20 years in clubs in Germany. I came twice to Italy for tournaments. I also do boxing because you need to give all the power and take the stress of the days out of you, and then you are ready to recharge mentally and physically.

11) Your greatest passion is Indian cuisine, because you love spicy food and sweets. Do you like cooking? What’s your favorite recipe? And what about Italian cuisine?
11) Are there people in the world who don’t really love pizza or pasta? I go out for dinner once a week in an Italian restaurant. I love Italian cuisine. At home I don’t always cook recipes, so I mix some spices till it tastes like I want. Curry is my favorite, and Indian cuisine is the best when you talk about spices.
I’m allergic to almonds. They cause me rashes, I am careful not to eat them.

12) Your twin brother is married, so I guess you would like to get married, settle down and have a family like him. Are you single now? If yes, what should your dream girl be like?
12) I don’t have a dream girl. However, confident women, smart women and those who know how to enjoy life interest me. I believe in the synergy of two people meant to be together, and when the first feels the other one when they have to Everyone is different and unique, and you will find the things you love. I don’t think such things would happen spontaneously.

13) We know that you like animals so much, especially dogs and cats. Have you got a pet?
13) I have two cats at home. I also love dogs but i cannot let them alone at home while working. My friends have dogs, so I can spend time with them.

14) One of your favourite European cities is Madrid. Have you ever been to Italy?
14) I have been many times to Italy; last time I was in Nemi, near Rome. I love Italian culture and the people there, especially your language. At school I learned Italian 4 years… I am looking forward to the next time.

15) Would you take part in one reality show or dating show in Italy? What about getting into Italian Film Industry? Would you be available to study Italian?
15) It would be nice to work in Italy and for the Italian TV, but first of all I have to improve my Italian a little bit. I hope to meet you in Italy soon!
